White Zombie?
[edit]What's the White Zombie category link doing here when the band is never mentioned in the BL page, and he is never mentioned in the White Zombie page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.127.185.239 (talk • contribs) 11:53, 1 October 2006 UTC
?? What's the link with White Zombie? (below) I searched this page and the White Zombie band page and could find no reference to Laswell as a member, contributor, conspirator, associate, etc. Any ideas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.34.24.168 (talk • contribs) 01:30, 25 October 2006 UTC
- Bill Laswell produced White Zombie's album Make Them Die Slowly [1]. But I'm not sure whether that justifies the link to Category:White Zombie. --Bruce1ee 06:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I've removed this cat – he only produced one of their albums. --Bruce1ee 13:00, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Birthdate?
[edit]- English Wikipedia: December 2, 1950
- German Wikipedia (featured article): February 12, 1955
- Google for "bill laswell" "December 2, 1950": 87 hits
- Google for "bill laswell" "February 12, 1955": 68 hits
Weird that there would be such a split between two completely different dates. Does anyone know for sure? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by KingTT (talk • contribs) .
Well spotted. My $0.02:
- Really not so different dates if you consider the error sources: The month thing clearly comes from a "02-12" date read either as Month/Day (anglo) or Day/Month (euro), generating those twin dates. The year thing clearly comes from a typo, either 1950 bounced to 1955, or 1955 shifted to 1950.
- Raw googling numbers mean nothing because of so much Wikipedia content replicated verbatim across hundreds of sites, oftentimes outdated versions with different content. As a rule of thumb, you need to add your Google queries the two exclusions { -wikipedia -encyclopedia } in order to weed out 90% of replicants and avoid auto-intoxication. Another way is to forbid a well-chosen part of sentence from the wikipedia article, such as { -"prolific bassist" }.
All non-wikipedian-based sites returned by such Google query (external) go for February 12, 1955. Also, they all give him born in Salem and only raised in Detroit. I'm updating the article with that... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.147.39.234 (talk • contribs) .
yup, 1955 seems to be correct: [2] 80.134.168.61 14:55, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
1955 is correct from what I know from people associated with Laswell. He also grew up in Albion, Michigan. His Detroit connection is that Detroit was the primary place he could go to see bands play when they toured through the area.--Slntwtchr (talk) 14:50, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]This list is not encyclopedic in of itself. If it's to be included, it should be edited down to some highlights and wrapped in some prose. - brenneman{T}{L} 23:26, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

I'll work on pairing this down and making it neater...my formatting on Wikipedia is not the best, but I am re-doing the whole of Laswell's page - naturally comments and edits are welcome.--Slntwtchr (talk) 14:48, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- I've just created an article for Akira Sakata, who played on Last Exit's 1987 live album. Any help expanding this article would be appreciated. Bondegezou (talk) 10:35, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
References go here, not External Links
[edit]I have moved the link farm under the External links section here. They do not belong there, like a parking lot. Please leave all sources needed for the article here, where they do belong. Once you are convinced they have been used up, or are not usable as reliable references-- (I haven't had the chance to look them over), just cross them off the list like this. Thank you. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 01:34, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
